Feeling Trapped in Your Mind? Signs & How to Overcome

Some people are unhappy or dissatisfied with their lives, some people are confused about their life decisions, and a lot of these people think that they have no control over what happens in it. Sometimes we can not understand what is happening in our lives. 

Many aspects of life can make us feel trapped, but there are always ways to improve our situation and regain a sense of control or freedom.

However, we can change our lives for the better using our mind and our actions.

Signs : 

Here are some common signs of being trapped in your mind

1. Overthinking

We all overthink now and then. But do you find yourself constantly ruminating about the past or worrying about the future? Do you find yourself to imagine something unrealistic? Do you always expect the worst to happen? If your answer is yes, (it’s likely that) you are trapped in your mind.

2. Indecisiveness

You feel confused or you have hard times while making decisions. If you agree with those statements, you have no control over your own mind. 

3. Highly emotional reactive

When something bad happens to us, we always try to express our emotions by crying, talking. But when we feel trapped we react to every small and big thing in our life. (be confined by your own thoughts)

4. Procrastination

Do you always delay or put off tasks until the last minute, or past their deadline? If you are doing these, you have a loose control over your opinions.

5. Sleeping problems

Are you having trouble while (before) sleeping because your mind is constantly overwhelmed with endless thoughts? If it is happening to you, you are stuck in your mind.

Ways to overcome to feel trapped in your mind

1. Practice mindfulness

Whenever you are feeling stuck, do mindful eating, walking, exercising or doing something else. It will help you to live in your present. So you can easily cut off your extra thoughts. 

2. Write down your thoughts

Sometimes you begin feeling trapped because you no longer see the positive in your situation. But if you start to write your gratitude lists or put your thoughts down in a diary you can be able to overcome it.

3. Talk to closest one

We always need some supportive person in our life. You need to surround yourself with positive people who will help you through and help you embrace fear. You can share your thoughts or opinions with them, they can give you some positive or negative feedback. So you can easily protect yourself from overthinking, indecisiveness etc.

4. Seek Psychological Help

Sometimes you can feel trapped because of your mental illness or your mental health issues like depression, anxiety which can make you feel helpless or miserable. It’s better to find a therapist. Professional help can give you good advice, you can find possible ways to overcome this situation.
